DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID

1.800.661.8265 | zcl.com Diesel Exhaust Fluid Storage Tanks The Best Storage Choice For An Emerging Need Changing regulations and new diesel engine technology are creating demand for a new product, Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) which is a formulation of 32.5 percent urea and 67.5 percent demineralized water. The urea DEF is stored in the on-board containers of newer diesel engine vehicles and injected into the exhaust stream. It is designed to be used with the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems that are now mandated on many new diesel-powered vehicles as a step toward reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) exhaust. Features and Benefits • Superior Design – Unlike carbon steel tanks, ZCL tanks do not rely on special coatings or linings to protect the quality of the DEF product. A ULC-label is attached to all tanks that meet listing criteria. • Facility Design – Underground storage tanks provide greater site design flexibility vs. the use of large aboveground storage containers on or near diesel fueling islands. • Temperature Control – There is no need for special equipment and maintenance costs designed to prevent freezing or excessive temperatures inside the tank, which are necessary with aboveground bulk storage containers. • Peace of Mind – As the leading manufacturer of FRP underground tanks, DEF tank owners and specifiers can rely on ZCL to supply a well designed, quality manufactured DEF storage tank backed by a 30-year limited warranty. Bulk storage of DEF presents some unique requirements that must be considered in order to maintain the product quality defined by ISO standard 22241-1 (The widely accepted standard for measuring DEF purity). The Petroleum Equipment Institute has also established a recommended practice (PEI/RP1100-10) which addresses these unique considerations. • Compatibility – Extensive testing has confirmed the suitability for storage of DEF.
