Due to design characteristics, it has become the most widely used tank gauging thermometer in the field. It is molded out of a smooth black heat resistant plastic material that is impervious to the chemical action of petroleum products and aromatic hydrocarbons. The low thermal conductivity of the plastic maintains the temperature of the sample being measured. The case is non-sparking, has a 120 mL capacity, and meets both API and ASTM requirements. These thermometers are manufactured in strict accordance with ASTM specifications, and can be easily replaced without any tools.
