Communications Features Summary Toptech's Access Card Reader (ACR) is a rugged, multi-purpose, access control device. Equipped with a non-captive proximity card reader, the ACR can be used at either indoor or outdoor access control points. The ACR is designed to directly communicate with Terminal Automation Systems, such as Toptech's TMS. The ACR becomes an integral component of the Terminal Automation System (TAS) by reading data from a proximity card. If the TAS is satisfied with the data, it will actuate the ACR's outputs to open a gate or door at the access point. Visual and audio indications at the ACR are actuated by the TAS as appropriate. Digital inputs at the ACR can also be monitored by the TAS. Toptech’s ACR communicates on a serial data link which can be either point-to-point or multi-dropped RS-232 or RS-485. The ACR communication port is intended to provide a communication link with TMS.
